THE COMPLETE GUIDE ON HOW TO USE A REED DIFFUSER

When it comes to our homes, there are numerous ways of creating a perfect atmosphere. In addition to being the sense most closely linked to memory, smell is also highly emotive. Fragrances have the power to convey a vast array of emotions and feelings; from desire to power, vitality to relaxation.

Something as simple as a reed diffuser can transform any room into a vision of freshness, relaxation or comfort. You can place a reed diffuser in your office to freshen up the space, in your bedroom to unwind while you rest, or add one to your kitchen windowsill to appreciate in the first part of the day. A reed diffuser is a great option for filling a room with lovely aromas without the need for a flame or plug-in.

You may be wondering, what is a reed diffuser? We've put together a guide with answers to some common questions you might have, plus we share how you can use a reed diffuser.

HOW TO USE REED DIFFUSER

  1. Unscrew the golden cap of the bottle, Push the white Wad from the cap and remove the plastic plug, Re-screw the cap and keep on flat surface.
  2. Put the black fibre reeds inside the bottle and arrange them artfully. Flip them whenever you want a burst of fragrance. Do it over a trash can or sink to catch any oil drips. Keep in mind that flipping the reeds more often will cause the oil to evaporate more quickly.
  3. Place the diffuser out of reach of pets, children and anything that might cause it to spill over. Put a placemat or coaster underneath it to catch any oil drips if you’re worried about damaging the surface.
  4. Once you notice the oil has evaporated, clean out the bottle with soap and water and let it dry (otherwise the water will repel the oil!). Do not wash the fibre sticks or reuse. Store the refill bottle for next use.
  5. Change the reeds whenever you change the oil. Reeds get dusty and clogged with oil over time, and regularly replacing them will ensure you have the strongest fragrance possible.

Please Note:

Due to high percentage of natural components, it is possible to observe slight variation in the colour. This never affects the duration and intensity of the aroma, it will always be the same.

Diffusers don’t require a flame or heat source for them to work, making them a safe and practical way to fragrance your home.

What do the fiber sticks do?

The fiber sticks soak up the oil and diffuse the scent along its entire length, releasing the beautiful fragrance into the room. The fiber sticks are porous which helps control the rate the fragrance is released.

If you want to make the fragrance more apparent in a room, increase the number of reeds you use. If you want to lessen the fragrance, remove a reed or two.

We recommend replacing the reeds every so often as they can become saturated and clogged which reduces their ability to work properly. And every time you use a new scent, use new reeds.

Flip Sticks for More Scent

If you want to increase the scent, just flip the sticks. Please remember to always flip diffuser reed sticks over a paper towel and to wipe bottle so no oil drips onto your table/surface.

Less Sticks Mean Less Scent

In small spaces, like bathrooms, use less sticks. We find 3 diffuser sticks work well when using lemongrass diffusers in our office bathrooms. If we use all the sticks, it can be overwhelming in small spaces.

Where’s the best place for a diffuser?

There are many great locations for placing reed diffusers around your home. The key is to match the size of the diffuser to the size of the room: The larger the room, the larger the diffuser needs to be to spread the scent around. You can place them in your bathrooms, bedroom, living room, office and walkways.

Motion in the room and general movement in the air will help circulate the scent and throw the fragrance, so it’s best to place it in a high traffic area that will help move the scent around.

Avoid placing it near air conditioning units, below the fan or near a door or window that leads outside where the fragrance will be lost. So avoid positioning it near one if you can.

How long do diffusers last?

On average, 120ml of diffuser oil should last between 30 – 45 days with 4-5 sticks, however, it’s lifespan can be affected by things such as air ventilation, air conditioning, open and closed doors, dehumidifiers and number of sticks added.
